1st: Central Dairy, Jefferson City; 573-635-6148

A trip to Jefferson City just isn’t complete without some Central Dairy ice cream. The ice cream parlor is a staple for school children who take a field trip to the Missouri State Capitol. The shop is known for its dozens of flavors and modestly priced scoops. Have a sweet tooth larger than most? Opt for the enormous banana split featuring chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream, banana, marshmallows, chocolate and nuts.

2nd: Ice Cream Factory, Eldon and Jefferson City; 573-723-4178

The Ice Cream Factory first brought their sweet creations to downtown Eldon in 2019, when Shannon Imler opened the “scoop shop” in the old Kraft factory. Shannon and his team bring the flavor by using a 14% butterfat mix, compared to a normal 10% mix. Once the base ice cream is made, they hand layer premium ingredients in creating one of their dozens of flavor combinations that customers flock for. For a cone that catches the eye, go with the Cobalt Cookie which is a bright blue ice cream base with cookie dough and chocolate chips layered in.

EC: Sara’s Ice Cream, Ste. Genevieve; 573-883-5890
